Is styling wax less dangerous to your hair compared to hair gel???

sumtime i use gel..but ppl say the alchol in hair gel can damage ur hair and make u loose lots of hair...and sum1 else told me styling wax has no alchol so its les dangerous 2 ur hair and has little to no affect on it. IS this tru???????
