Can i use Povidone-iodine U.S.P prep pad on my new belly piercing?

well i just got my belly pierced about a week ago and it was fine until redness started to form around the top part of the piercing, then a lil bit of puss comes out when i clean it. Also the guy who pierced it for me said i should clean it with warm water and salt or hydrogen peroxide. but i heard its bad to clean it with hydrogen peroxide so i dont know what to do but i have Povidone-Iodine prep pads and im wondering if its ok to use those better???? please help me!! thank you!
