Do we know for sure that an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs?
Obviously, no one was around when the dinosaurs met their demise, but a great deal of scientific study has taken place to attempt to answer this very question. There are still several popular theories as to what really happened, but the most popular and the one that generates the greatest amount of logic involves the asteroid hitting in Central America. Supposedly, this asteroid was large enough to not only cause localized lethal conditions, it was able to force enough debris into the atmosphere to cause a major temperature shift all over the world for an extended period of time. The animals that did not die directly from the immediate effects of the impact of the asteroid would have sucbed to the change in temperature and a coinciding loss of food sources. A great many of the studies have been able to validate this theory. Will we ever know for sure? No! Based on a great deal of scientific study can we make a reasonable conclusion this particular theory is plausible? Yes.
